Overview

The vitreo-retinal interface (VRI) is the anatomical and molecular boundary between the vitreous body and the retina. It consists of the inner limiting membrane (ILM) of the retina, the vitreous cortex, and an intervening extracellular matrix. Key components include collagen, laminin, fibronectin, Müller cells, and hyalocytes. It plays a crucial role in retinal adhesion, stability, and is implicated in various retinal diseases like PVD, macular holes, and retinal detachment.
