Overview

Vitronectin (VTN), also known as serum spreading factor or S-protein, is a multifunctional glycoprotein found in plasma and the extracellular matrix. It plays crucial roles in cell adhesion, spreading, migration, tissue remodeling, hemostasis, immune defense, and ECM regulation. Vitronectin binds to integrins, particularly αvβ3 and αvβ5, via its RGD motif, mediating cell-substrate interactions. It's involved in various physiological and pathological processes, including cancer, neurodegenerative diseases, and infectious diseases.
