Target intelligence / Profile preview
VDAC1P7 is a processed pseudogene related to the voltage-dependent anion channel 1 (VDAC1). Unlike VDAC1, which is a major component of the mitochondrial outer membrane and functions as a voltage-gated ion channel regulating metabolite and ion flux, VDAC1P7 does not encode a functional protein and does not perform these or any known biological functions. Numerous VDAC1 pseudogenes have been identified in the human genome; while some are transcribed in certain tissues or disease contexts, there is currently no evidence that VDAC1P7 is a therapeutic target or plays a direct biological or pathological role[7][9].
