Voltage dependent anion channel 3 pseudogene 1 (VDAC3P1) is a transcribed but non-protein-coding pseudogene located in the human genome, derived from the VDAC3 gene, and part of the broader voltage-dependent anion channel (VDAC) gene family. VDAC3P1 shows weak expression in some normal connective tissues and testicular germ cells, but there is currently no evidence of a functional protein product, no direct role in disease, and it is not considered a therapeutic target. This distinguishes it from functional VDAC proteins (such as VDAC3), which are integral channels involved in mitochondrial outer membrane permeability, metabolism, and apoptosis.
