TMEM37
Molecular classification

Overview

Voltage-dependent calcium channel gamma-like subunit (TMEM37) is a transmembrane protein primarily known for its role as an auxiliary subunit of voltage-gated calcium channels, where it is thought to stabilize the channel in the inactivated (closed) state and modulate calcium current when co-expressed with the T-type calcium channel subunit CACNA1G[1][2][4][8][10]. TMEM37 is located in the membrane and is expressed in multiple human tissues[5]. There is no current evidence that it is a direct therapeutic target or that specific drugs interact directly with this subunit. TMEM37 has been implicated in the regulation of calcium ion flow but is not classified as a standalone channel, receptor, or principal drug target[9][10].
