Target intelligence / Profile preview
The voltage-gated calcium channel alpha2-delta (α2δ) subunit is an auxiliary protein component of high-voltage-activated (HVA) calcium channels. It is essential for the influx of calcium ions into excitable cells upon membrane depolarization. The α2δ subunits play a critical role in modulating the function and trafficking of these channels, thereby influencing cellular excitability and signaling. It is targeted by gabapentinoid drugs such as gabapentin and pregabalin.
Binding to α₂δ₋₁/₂ isoforms, modulating calcium channel function and reducing calcium influx.
