Target intelligence / Profile preview

Voltage-gated Potassium Channel Subfamily A Member 1 (Kv1.1)

Target
Kv1.1
Molecular classification
Ion channel, Voltage-gated potassium channel, Shaker-related family
01

Overview

Voltage-gated potassium channel Kv1.1 is a key regulator of neuronal excitability, primarily expressed in the central nervous system. It contributes to action potential repolarization and controls neuronal firing frequency. Mutations or autoimmune reactions against Kv1.1 can cause neurological disorders such as Episodic Ataxia type 1 and Isaacs syndrome. Channel activity is modulated by small molecules, such as niflumic acid, and is sensitive to stoichiometry/arrangement within heteromeric complexes.
