Target intelligence / Profile preview
Nav1.7 is a voltage-gated sodium channel alpha subunit encoded by the SCN9A gene. It is a critical component of electrical signaling in pain-sensing neurons, amplifying small depolarizations to initiate action potentials. Mutations in SCN9A are associated with pain disorders, and the channel is a target for analgesic drug development. It has also been implicated in cancer cell migration and metastasis.
Inhibition of sodium channel activity.
