Target intelligence / Profile preview
Voltage-gated sodium channel protein type 10 subunit alpha (SCN10A / Nav1.8) is a tetrodotoxin-resistant sodium channel alpha subunit that mediates voltage-dependent sodium ion permeability in excitable membranes. It plays a critical role in the generation and propagation of action potentials, particularly in nociceptive sensory neurons involved in pain signaling. Mutations or polymorphisms in SCN10A/Nav1.8 have been linked to small fiber neuropathy and cardiac arrhythmias.
