Overview

Vomeronasal 1 receptor 11 pseudogene (VN1R11P) is a human gene that belongs to the vomeronasal 1 receptor gene family, which are G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) involved in pheromone detection in the vomeronasal organ of other mammals[1][3][5][6]. In humans, VN1R11P is classified as a pseudogene, meaning it contains sequence homology to functional receptor genes but is non-functional due to accumulated mutations or deletions[2][3][5]. Vomeronasal receptor gene families (including V1Rs) have undergone widespread pseudogenization in primates, correlating with reduced reliance on pheromonal communication, leading to loss of function in many of these genes[1]. There is no evidence for any therapeutic, diagnostic, or physiological relevance or for any interacting drugs; it does not serve as a functional protein-coding target in humans[2][5].
