The vomeronasal 1 receptor 20 pseudogene is a non-coding remnant of a gene from the vomeronasal 1 receptor (V1R) family, which in other mammals encodes G protein-coupled receptors thought to mediate pheromone detection via the vomeronasal organ. In humans, VN1R20P is annotated as a pseudogene, meaning it does not produce a functional protein, and therefore is not involved in vomeronasal signaling or any therapeutic indications. The absence of protein-coding capacity makes it non-relevant for drug targeting, clinical biomarker use, or disease association. VN1R20P is a human pseudogene with no protein product, disease role, or therapeutic relevance. While closely related to the GPCR vomeronasal receptor family—which mediates pheromone detection in other species—this locus is not functionally expressed in humans.
