While functional vomeronasal 1 receptors are G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) involved in pheromone detection in other species[7], VN1R64P is classified as a pseudogene in humans and does not encode a functional protein[3]. It is notably expressed in the testis, but there is no evidence for any biological function, disease relevance, or therapeutic targeting associated with this gene[3].
