Vomeronasal 1 receptor 92 pseudogene (VN1R92P) is a member of the human vomeronasal receptor family—classically G protein-coupled receptors involved in pheromone detection in non-human mammals. In humans, a large proportion of genes in the vomeronasal receptor class (V1R) have become pseudogenes due to evolutionary loss of function, reflecting a residual or vestigial status in the human genome. VN1R92P does not produce a functional protein and has no confirmed biological, physiological, or pathological activity. Its annotation exists mainly for genomic and evolutionary studies, reflecting the contraction and inactivation of the vomeronasal sensory system in primates, including humans.
