Overview

The vomeronasal 2 receptor 1 pseudogene (VN2R1P, also known as GPRC2B) is annotated as a pseudogene in the human genome. It is a non-functional homolog of the vomeronasal 2 receptor family, which in rodents encodes G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) involved in pheromone detection within the vomeronasal organ. In humans, VN2R1P does not yield a functional receptor protein and is not involved in any known biological processes or disease roles. It is therefore not considered a therapeutic target or druggable protein. Its status as a pseudogene reflects either the loss of protein-coding potential or function throughout primate evolution, and it does not play a role in human physiology or pathology.
