Vomeronasal type-1 receptor 2 (VN1R2) is a member of the *type 1 vomeronasal receptor (V1R)* family, which are G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) predominantly expressed in the vomeronasal organ—a specialized structure within the nasal cavity of many vertebrates responsible for detecting pheromonal cues and other chemosensory stimuli[1][2]. VN1R2 is involved in the recognition of sulfated estrogens, glucuronidated estrogens, and certain steroids, playing a key role in identifying steroid-derived signals in mammals[1][2]. This receptor enables social and reproductive behaviors by facilitating the nervous system’s detection of conspecific signals and physiological status through specific ligand-receptor interactions[1][2].
