VPS51 pseudogene 7 (VPS51P7) is a pseudogene located in the human genome and is derived from the parental VPS51 gene, which encodes a protein involved in retrograde vesicular trafficking and the function of Golgi-associated retrograde protein (GARP) and endosome-associated retrograde protein (EARP) complexes. As a pseudogene, VPS51P7 does not produce a functional protein product and has no confirmed biological or pharmacological activity as a receptor, enzyme, or drug target[3]. There is no current evidence that VPS51P7 is involved in human disease, cell signaling, or targeted by drugs. The parental gene, *VPS51*, is a component of the GARP and EARP complexes implicated in vesicular traffic, lysosome function, and autophagy, and mutations in VPS51 can cause rare neurodevelopmental disorders, but these findings do not apply to the pseudogene[1][2][4]. Pseudogenes are generally considered non-functional genetic elements, though rare exceptions act as competitive endogenous RNAs or regulate parental gene expression under certain conditions[5]. There is no published evidence that VPS51P7 fulfills such roles.
