Target intelligence / Profile preview
WARS2 intronic transcript 1 (WARS2-IT1) is annotated as a putative long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) transcribed from an intronic region of the WARS2 gene, which encodes mitochondrial tryptophanyl-tRNA synthetase 2. The existence and expression of WARS2-IT1 are currently supported only by bioinformatic prediction and limited transcriptomic evidence; there are no published studies characterizing its sequence, biological function, or clinical relevance. While the WARS2 gene is involved in mitochondrial protein translation and regulatory pathways affecting adiposity and metabolic traits[1], WARS2-IT1 itself has not been demonstrated to play a functional role nor is it recognized as a bona fide therapeutic target.
