WASP family homolog 7, pseudogene (WASH7P) is a human gene classified as a transcribed unprocessed pseudogene located on chromosome 1p36.33[1][6]. It is a member of the WASH gene family, which itself is a subclass of the broader WASP (Wiskott-Aldrich Syndrome Protein) family involved in regulating the actin cytoskeleton, although WASH7P does not encode a protein product and is predicted to be non-coding in function[1][3][6][8]. WASH7P may be transcribed as a long non-coding RNA, but there is currently no evidence supporting a protein-coding role or direct involvement in human diseases or therapeutic applications[1][3][8]. It is commonly known by several aliases including FAM39F and WASH5P, and should not be confused with protein-coding WASH family genes such as WASHC1, which are active in actin regulation and cell migration[7][10]. There are no known drugs, biomarkers, or safety concerns associated with WASH7P, nor is it considered a therapeutic target.
