Overview

WD repeat-containing protein 25 (WDR25) is a member of the WD-repeat protein family, characterized by the presence of several WD repeat motifs, each about 30–40 amino acids in length. WD-repeat domains form a stable beta-propeller fold, which acts as a platform for reversible protein-protein interactions but does not possess intrinsic catalytic activity. WDR25 is thought to function as a scaffold or adaptor protein, facilitating the assembly of multiprotein complexes implicated in cellular processes such as cell cycle regulation, signal transduction, apoptosis, and gene regulation. WDR25 expression is ubiquitous, with both nuclear and cytoplasmic localization in human tissues. Clinically, WDR25 has been reported in association with Long QT syndrome and diaphyseal medullary stenosis with malignant fibrous histiocytoma, but its precise mechanistic role in these diseases is not fully established, and there are no current drugs or therapeutic agents known to target this protein.
