Overview

WD repeat-containing protein 38 (WDR38) is a human protein encoded by the WDR38 gene. WDR38 belongs to the WD-repeat protein family, which is characterized by the presence of WD repeats—a highly conserved motif that typically folds into a beta-propeller structure, allowing the protein to serve as a stable platform for protein-protein interactions[1][2][4][5]. WDR38 is predicted to act upstream in the differentiation of hematopoietic progenitor cells but does not possess enzyme activity or function as a receptor, transporter, or typical therapeutic drug target. Members of the WD-repeat family are involved in many aspects of cell biology, including the assembly of multi-protein complexes and diverse signaling processes, but WDR38's specific cellular roles and disease associations remain only partially characterized[1][2][5]. There are no known drugs or chemical modulators targeting WDR38 to date.
