WDR70 pseudogene 1 (WDR70P1) is a non-coding pseudogene locus and does not encode a functional protein. Unlike canonical protein-coding genes, pseudogenes are generally genetic relics that may arise from duplication or retrotransposition events but lack functional expression of the parental gene product. There is no evidence that WDR70P1 itself acts as a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or other conventional therapeutic target. WDR70P1 is related to the functional WD repeat domain 70 (WDR70), which is part of the WD repeat domain family and participates in homologous recombination-mediated DNA repair and chromatin regulation. However, WDR70P1 should not be considered a drug target; any functional information pertains to the canonical WDR70 gene, not its pseudogene.
