WD repeat domain 89 (WDR89) is a protein encoded by the human WDR89 gene, which contains 10 WD repeat motifs and is localized to the nucleus[7]. WD repeat proteins, including WDR89, generally act as scaffolds for multi-protein complex assembly but do not have catalytic activity themselves[2][4][5][6]. WDR89 is predicted to function in developmental processes such as corpus callosum and ventricular system formation in the brain[1][8]. Like other WD repeat–containing proteins, its main role is to facilitate protein-protein interactions, especially in the assembly and stabilization of macromolecular complexes[2][4][6]. There are currently no published therapeutics, drugs, or specific disease biomarker roles directly established for WDR89.
