WDR5 divergent transcript is a non-coding RNA (likely a long non-coding RNA) divergently transcribed from a region near the WDR5 gene. Such transcripts are often paired head-to-head with protein-coding genes and are enriched at chromatin active regions carrying the H3K4me2 or H3K4me3 mark, deposited by WDR5. Their transcription is thought to help maintain the chromatin at partner genes in a transcriptionally competent state, likely through cis-regulatory actions and interaction with chromatin-associated proteins such as WDR5. There is no evidence that the "WDR5 divergent transcript" itself is a drug target or has established biological or disease roles other than its putative function in gene regulation and chromatin architecture.
