Overview

WDR7 antisense RNA 1 (WDR7-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA transcribed from the antisense strand adjacent to the WDR7 gene. Like other lncRNAs and antisense RNAs, WDR7-AS1 likely functions in the regulation of gene expression, potentially through mechanisms such as chromatin modification, regulation of mRNA stability, or interference with transcription[1][3]. WDR7-AS1 is not a protein-coding gene and is not currently considered a therapeutic target. Its biological roles remain largely uncharacterized, but by analogy to neighboring antisense lncRNAs, it may contribute to cell cycle regulation, apoptosis, and disease via modulation of WDR7 or other nearby genes[3].
