WHAMM pseudogene 2 (WHAMMP2) is a human pseudogene related to the WHAMM gene. Pseudogenes are genomic DNA sequences similar to normal genes but are non-functional; they typically do not encode functional proteins and often arise by duplication or retrotransposition of existing genes. Most pseudogenes, including WHAMMP2, do not have a known biological function, are not considered therapeutic targets, and have no known drug interactions or disease relevance. They can, however, serve as genomic markers or contribute to gene regulation in rare cases, but no such function has been documented for WHAMMP2 to date.
