The syndrome encompasses a group of inflammatory and rheumatic diseases—such as arthritis—in modern medical classification, but does not represent a single biological or molecular target. Multi-target herbal modulation refers to the use of herbal combinations to address the syndrome on several pathogenic pathways simultaneously according to TCM theory
