Wind expulsion

The term "wind expulsion" refers to the release of gas from the digestive system, typically via the anus (flatulence) or mouth (burping)[1][5][9]. This process is caused by swallowed air, bacterial fermentation of undigested carbohydrates, and the breakdown of certain foods in the gut, resulting in gases such as nitrogen, oxygen, carbon dioxide, hydrogen, and methane[1][5][7]. Wind expulsion is a normal physiological process, but excessive, foul-smelling, or painful wind can indicate underlying health disorders such as irritable bowel syndrome, lactose intolerance, or celiac disease[7][9].
