Overview

Wound healing activity refers to the complex, multi-phase physiological process by which damaged tissue undergoes repair following injury. This process is orchestrated through four overlapping phases: hemostasis (cessation of bleeding), inflammation, proliferation (new tissue formation and re-epithelialization), and remodeling (scar formation and tissue strengthening). Each phase depends on coordinated actions of platelets, neutrophils, macrophages, fibroblasts, endothelial cells, keratinocytes, and a network of cytokines and growth factors. Therapeutic targeting of wound healing generally aims to accelerate or modulate these phases; however, "wound healing activity" is not a molecular target but an aggregate of underlying molecular and cellular events
