Overview

"Wound surface hydration" refers to the therapeutic practice of keeping the wound environment moist, often through specialized dressings, to facilitate the migration of epidermal cells, accelerate wound epithelialization, and promote more rapid and less painful healing. This approach is supported by evidence that a moist environment allows for easier epidermal cell movement, faster coverage of the wound, and effective autolytic debridement. It is a principle in wound care but is not itself a molecular target or receptor[5].
