Overview

WTAP pseudogene 1 (WTAPP1) is a human gene classified as a pseudogene and functions predominantly as a long noncoding RNA (lncRNA)[3][4][6]. Unlike protein-coding genes, WTAPP1 does not produce a functional protein but can act as a regulatory molecule at the RNA level. Studies indicate it exerts its function as a molecular decoy, particularly in endothelial progenitor cells, and is involved in the regulation of cell migration and invasion in certain cancers, including non-small cell lung cancer, possibly through interactions with other noncoding RNAs[3][4][6]. WTAPP1 is not considered a direct therapeutic target such as a receptor, enzyme, or transporter, and no known drugs or biomarkers are associated with it. However, its regulatory roles in cancer suggest it may be of interest for further research in oncology.
