Overview

WBP1LP1, short for WW domain binding protein 1-like pseudogene 1, is a pseudogene found in the human genome[4]. Pseudogenes are DNA sequences similar to known genes but usually lack the ability to encode functional proteins due to sequence disruptions or regulatory mutations. WBP1LP1 is related to the WW domain binding protein 1-like family, but it does not produce a functional protein product and has not been implicated in cellular signaling, disease, or therapeutic targeting. There is no evidence that this pseudogene serves as a receptor, enzyme, transporter, biomarker, or pharmacological target. Most of the research and functional insights are related to WBP1L (WW domain binding protein 1-like, a transmembrane adaptor protein with established roles in hematopoietic stem cells and leukemia prognosis)[1], but WBP1LP1 itself lacks documented biological or clinical relevance. If a therapeutic or biological context is intended, WBP1L (not a pseudogene) is likely the correct target[1]; WBP1LP1 appears to be non-functional and not suitable for structured molecular or pharmacological annotation.
