Overview

WW domain containing E3 ubiquitin protein ligase 1 pseudogene 1 (WWP1P1) is a human gene classified as a pseudogene. It is so named because its sequence closely resembles that of the protein-coding gene WWP1, which encodes an E3 ubiquitin ligase involved in ubiquitination, transcription regulation, cell signaling, and is associated with diseases and cancer[1][4][5]. Unlike the functional WWP1, WWP1P1 does not have documented protein-coding potential or physiological or pathological function. Therefore, it is not a recognized therapeutic target, does not code for a receptor, enzyme, or other molecular entity of biomedical interest, and no drugs are described to interact with it[1][4][5]. As a pseudogene, WWP1P1 may exist as noncoding DNA whose remnants serve as evolutionary or regulatory artifacts but not as an active biological entity.
