X-ray contrast activity refers to the ability of certain substances, known as contrast agents, to enhance the visibility of specific tissues, organs, or blood vessels during X-ray-based imaging procedures. These agents work by altering how X-rays interact with body tissues, thereby improving image detail and diagnostic accuracy. Contrast agents are typically compounds containing elements with high atomic numbers (such as iodine or barium) that absorb or block X-rays more effectively than surrounding tissues.
