Overview

YBX2 pseudogene 2 is a pseudogene related to the Y box binding protein 2 (YBX2) gene. Pseudogenes are non-functional segments of DNA that resemble functional genes but are not typically transcribed into functional proteins. YBX2P2 is annotated as a pseudogene and does not code for an active protein product[1][7]. Therefore, it is not a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or considered a therapeutic target. The functional YBX2 gene, by contrast, encodes a nucleic acid binding protein involved in translational regulation and germ cell development, but its pseudogenes (including YBX2P2, found on chromosomes 10 and 15) are not associated with biological activity or therapeutic roles[1][7]. There is no evidence that YBX2P2 itself is involved in disease, drug interactions, or serves as a biomarker.
