Overview

Yellow fever virus nonstructural proteins are a group of viral proteins encoded by the yellow fever virus (genus Flavivirus) that are essential for viral genome replication, protein processing, assembly of infectious particles, and modulation of host immune responses[3][2][1][4]. The seven recognized nonstructural proteins (NS1, NS2A, NS2B, NS3, NS4A, NS4B, NS5) are produced through co- and posttranslational cleavage of the viral polyprotein. NS3 acts as a serine protease, RNA helicase, and nucleoside triphosphatase; NS5 has RNA-dependent RNA polymerase and methyl/guanylyltransferase activity. These proteins interact with each other and with structural proteins as well as host cell factors to drive the viral life cycle, making them attractive therapeutic targets for antiviral drug development[2][3][4][1].
