The yellow fever virus (YFV) replication cycle is a complex process involving attachment and entry, translation of a polyprotein, processing of the polyprotein into functional viral proteins, replication of the viral RNA genome, assembly of new virions, and release of the virus from the infected cell. This cycle occurs entirely within the cytoplasm of infected cells, primarily hepatocytes, and is crucial for viral propagation and the pathogenesis of yellow fever.
Ribavirin inhibits flavivirus genome replication (general). Triazole derivatives inhibit YFV replication through unknown mechanisms.
