Overview

Yes proto-oncogene 1, Src family tyrosine kinase (YES1) is a non-receptor protein tyrosine kinase of the Src family, encoded by the YES1 gene[1][2][3][7]. YES1 plays a central role in signal transduction, cell growth, cell survival, apoptosis, cell adhesion, cytoskeletal organization, and cell migration by phosphorylating a range of substrates downstream of receptor tyrosine kinases and other signals[1][2][7]. Its dysregulation is implicated in various cancers, where it is considered both a therapeutic target and a potential biomarker for certain tumor types, especially those dependent on Src family kinase signaling[1][6]. Drug targeting of YES1 generally utilizes ATP-competitive tyrosine kinase inhibitors, which can influence both cancer progression and normal physiological processes[6].
