Yip1 domain family member 7 (YIPF7) is a five-pass transmembrane protein primarily localized to the cis-Golgi network, endoplasmic reticulum (ER) membrane, and ER-Golgi intermediate compartment, with activity predicted in the trans-Golgi network[1][2][3]. It is a member of the Yip1 domain-containing (YIPF) protein family and contributes to vesicle-mediated transport from the ER to the Golgi and vesicle fusion with the Golgi apparatus[1][2][3]. YIPF7 participates in multi-protein complexes involved in the budding and fusion of transport vesicles, suggesting essential roles in organelle organization and intracellular protein trafficking[2][3]. Genetic variants in YIPF7 have been linked to intestinal inflammation, especially in patients with the intestinal subtype of Behçet's disease, where reduced expression correlates with exacerbated immune responses in the gut[1]. Despite its functional significance in cellular physiology, YIPF7 is not currently recognized as a direct therapeutic target, nor are there specific drugs or clinical biomarkers associated with it[1][2][3].
