Zaire ebolavirus Viral Protein 35 (VP35) mRNA (VP35 mRNA)

Zaire ebolavirus Viral Protein 35 (VP35) mRNA is the genetic transcript that encodes the VP35 protein, a critical multifunctional component of the Ebola virus. The VP35 protein acts as an essential non-catalytic cofactor for the viral RNA-dependent RNA polymerase (L), which is required for the replication and transcription of the viral genome (PMID: 25552711). Furthermore, VP35 is a primary factor in the virus's ability to evade the host immune system by inhibiting the production of Type I interferons and blocking RIG-I-like receptor signaling (PMID: 19114480). By targeting the VP35 mRNA, therapeutic interventions aim to halt viral replication and restore the host's innate immune response.
