ZBTB20 antisense RNA 2 (ZBTB20-AS2) is presumed to be a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) transcribed from the antisense strand to the ZBTB20 gene locus. Antisense RNAs are often involved in the regulation of their sense gene partners, potentially through mechanisms such as transcriptional interference, RNA-RNA interactions, or chromatin modification, but there is no published functional or mechanistic data on ZBTB20-AS2 specifically. By contrast, the protein-coding gene ZBTB20 encodes a transcription factor involved in neural development, immune function, hepatic metabolism, and cancer, but these functions are not attributable to the antisense RNA species[1][2][3][5]. There is no evidence supporting the use of ZBTB20-AS2 as a therapeutic target, nor any drugs or disease biomarkers associated with it. The lack of concrete data suggests that ZBTB20-AS2 is an uncharacterized or possibly predicted annotation, rather than a functionally validated or clinically relevant molecular target.
