Zinc-dependent enzymes are a broad class of metalloenzymes that require zinc ions (Zn²⁺) for their catalytic activity, structural stability, or regulatory functions. Zinc acts as a crucial cofactor in these proteins, participating directly in catalysis or maintaining the enzyme's three-dimensional structure.
