Overview

Zinc finger AN1-type containing 6 (ZFAND6) is a protein-coding gene and a member of the zinc finger protein family containing AN1-type and A20-type domains[1][2][4]. Biochemically, ZFAND6 is involved in the negative regulation of NF-kappaB signaling and apoptosis, largely by modulating ubiquitination states of key signaling proteins such as TRAF2 in the TNF receptor pathway[1][2]. ZFAND6 is located in the cytosol and also participates in regulating peroxisomal protein import and supporting PEX5 stability[1]. Recent studies indicate a broader regulatory role for ZFAND6 in inflammation, the metabolic axis (including the risk for type 2 diabetes by influencing pancreatic beta cell function), and innate antiviral immunity[2][4].
