Zinc finger and BTB domain-containing protein 14 (ZBTB14) is a member of the ZBTB family of transcription factors characterized by C-terminal zinc finger motifs that bind DNA and an N-terminal BTB/POZ domain that mediates protein-protein interactions and recruitment of corepressors. ZBTB14 primarily functions as a transcriptional repressor, including inhibition of PU.1 expression which regulates monocyte and macrophage development, and negative regulation of MYC and thymidine kinase expression. It is also implicated in transcriptional activation of the dopamine transporter gene. Mutations in ZBTB14 are associated with myelopoietic dysregulation and have been found in acute myeloid leukemia, indicating its importance in blood cell and immune system development
