Zinc finger and BTB domain-containing protein 44 (ZBTB44) is a predicted transcription factor belonging to the BTB-ZF family, a group of proteins that commonly act as sequence-specific DNA-binding transcriptional repressors or activators. ZBTB44 contains a BTB/POZ domain, which mediates protein-protein interactions, and four C2H2-type zinc finger motifs that bind DNA. While the BTB-ZF family is prominent in development, immunity, and oncogenesis, ZBTB44 itself is only inferred to participate in transcriptional regulation and its biological functions remain poorly defined. There are no direct associations with human disease, drugs, or biomarker utility based on current data.
