Overview

Zinc finger and BTB domain-containing protein 45 (ZBTB45) is a transcription factor containing a BTB/POZ domain at the N-terminus and multiple C2H2-type zinc finger domains at the C-terminus[1][2]. It enables sequence-specific DNA binding and is involved in negative regulation of gene transcription, as well as regulation of cytokine production and immune system processes[2]. In the central nervous system, ZBTB45 is expressed ubiquitously during development and is critical for the differentiation of neural stem cells, especially in the glial lineage, influencing both astrocyte and oligodendrocyte precursor fate[1]. Knockdown of ZBTB45 impairs oligodendrocyte maturation and skews neural stem cells toward astrocytic differentiation, highlighting its key role in proper CNS development[1]. The gene is located in a chromosome region frequently deleted in gliomas, suggesting disease relevance, but no directly interacting drugs or specific biomarker or safety concern information is currently available in public databases[2][1].
