Zinc finger and BTB domain-containing protein 49 (ZBTB49) is a sequence-specific DNA-binding transcription factor that contains a BTB/POZ domain and multiple C2H2 zinc finger motifs[1][5][13]. It can inhibit cell proliferation by activating transcription of CDKN1A/p21 and RB1, two key regulators of the cell cycle, and is involved in cell cycle and transcriptional control[1][9][5]. ZBTB49 acts as a transcription activator or coactivator, potentially interacting with proteins such as EP300 and ZBTB17/Miz-1[1].
