Target intelligence / Profile preview
Zinc finger and BTB domain-containing protein 7A (ZBTB7A) is a transcription factor that acts primarily as a transcriptional repressor. It binds to specific DNA elements via its zinc-finger domains and represses gene expression through chromatin modification or direct recruitment of corepressors. Aberrant expression or mutation of ZBTB7A is implicated in various diseases, including cancer and developmental disorders. It can act as either an oncogene or a tumor suppressor depending on the cellular context.
Transcriptional repression via DNA binding and recruitment of corepressors.
