Zinc finger and BTB domain-containing protein 8A is a transcriptional regulator protein. It contains a BTB/POZ domain that mediates protein-protein interactions (often with co-repressors or other regulatory proteins) and multiple zinc finger motifs that enable DNA binding. ZBTB8A is predicted to function as a transcriptional repressor by interacting with RNA polymerase II and is primarily localized to the cell nucleus. It shows similarity to other BTB-ZF family transcription factors, which play key roles in epigenetic regulation and chromatin structure. Although the broader BTB-ZF protein family is implicated in T cell differentiation, immune function, and some cancers, no direct functional or therapeutic targeting evidence exists specifically for ZBTB8A. Disease association is limited, chiefly linked to neurogenetic conditions such as myoclonic dystonia
