It is specifically required to maintain embryonic stem cell pluripotency and regulates pluripotency genes such as POU5F1/OCT4[1]. Disease associations include various neurodevelopmental disorders and possible roles in cancer through modulation of gene expression related to proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis[1][2][3]. No direct pharmacological inhibitors or drugs are currently reported to act on ZSCAN10 itself, and it is not considered a classic therapeutic target but rather a key transcriptional regulator implicated in disease biology[1][2][3].
