Zinc finger and SCAN domain-containing protein 25 is a member of the ZSCAN family of transcription factors, characterized by the presence of both a C2H2 zinc finger DNA-binding motif and a SCAN protein-protein interaction domain[1][2][3][4]. ZSCAN25 is implicated in transcriptional regulation through binding to specific DNA sequences and mediating interactions with other nuclear proteins. It has context-specific biological roles; altered DNA methylation at its locus has been identified as a predictive biomarker of seizure risk and severity in alcohol withdrawal syndrome, while broader ZSCAN family members are involved in processes such as cancer progression, cell proliferation, apoptosis, and differentiation[1][3]. However, ZSCAN25 itself has not been validated as a direct therapeutic target nor associated with known drug interactions.
